Process Breakdown
Graphic from Pinterest

Upon seeing the leftside photo on Pinterest, I was pulled to make a small morphing animation for no reason other than that I'll take any excuse to use Roughen Edges and Turbulent Displace. Grunge ink styles have always been alluring to me and the spikiness in all 3 designs made me feel like they'd easily morph into each other. The choice to use low fps was partially due to the fact that I associate grunge styles with straying away from all things modern-day. So, in my head, that means reducing the use of the "technological advancements" we have such as motion blur or high fps which makes things smoother. The second reason for the low fps is that the spikes reminded me of black magnetic goo and how the movement of that liquid is chunky, rugged, and unpredictable.
Since the original graphic from Pinterest had no description, I created my own narrative for what the animation would mean. The first thing that came to mind with the image of an eye, ear, and lips is "See no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil".
