Process Breakdown

With this project, I wanted to explore how beliefs indigenous to India surrounding gender and queeress shifted prior to British colonization vs the dominant beliefs that are now held there present day. In terms of highlighting the once liberal beliefs that were held by many Indians prior to British rule, I went into detail about what Hinduism looked like back then vs now. More importantly, I highlighted how the original pillars of the religion were altered through legal force and a push for conservatism from the British.
Before any of the video content could be produced, I had to collect my research. After this was complete, I organized thehistorical events in chronological order to find where the shift in India's ideologies began. Once I had that breakdown ready, I made a list of illustrations that needed to be made for this motion presentation. That being said, drawing out the visual aids and animating the drawings meant that the time allocated to this project was 40% research and 60% content creation.
Overall, I was confident that the final product successfully portrayed the transformation of Indian beliefs throughout history to provide an explanation for the shift from liberal to conservative thought through a socio-political lens.
